The mission of Health Services is to:

Support and promote
the health and wellbeing of students with an emphasis on disease
prevention and wellness, reduce absenteeism, increase involvement
ands understanding of one’s own health care.

Support
parent/guardian involvement and affirm respect for the value
of individuals and their families in order to reach their full
educational potential.

The Taos Municipal
Schools Health Centers are available to provide health care and
counseling services free of charge to all Students at the Taos
Municipal Schools.

Student participation
is voluntary.

Screening/Treatment Sexually Transmitted Infections(STI) and

Family Planning at
the School Based Health Centers.

New Mexico state law
permits students at age 13 years old to consent to treatment for
substance abuse, mental health counseling, STI, family planning and
pregnancy testing. However, the Health Centers staff make every
effort to encourage discussion between student and parent/guardian
regarding these subjects. Emergency treatment may be given when a
parent or guardian cannot be reached.
