METHODS FOR
ACCOMPLISHING THE SCHOOL’S MISSION STATEMENT
Our staff is committed to the 90%
Reading Goal. Our primary goal is to focus on 1st, 2nd,and 3rd grade students
to read at or above grade level by the end of 3rd grade. We will assess
students and intervene so that all academic assignments given to students are at
their comprehension level and not necessarily their grade level. We have
initiated corrective reading and leveled-math programs as the initial step of
remediation. Teachers and parents jobs as co-educators include:
Teachers are to:
*Map the curriculum at their grade level.
*Determine grade level based on a variety of assessments.
*Use Star Math and Star Reader
*Use Accelerated Math and Accelerated Reader.
*Keep teaching clear, simple, and measurable.
Parents are to:
*Ensure their child attends school every day.
*Sit their child down to read 30 min. a night and document it.
*Review Math facts while driving in the car, pushing a shopping cart, or washing
dishes.
*Unplug electronics for a set time each day.
*Make doctor’s appointments after 3:00 P.M.
