VARSITY CHEERLEADERS
Tiger Cheerleaders bring home second place honors after this weekend’s Spirit Fest Championship in Denver, CO.
Tiger Cheerleaders excel in Denver!
Taos Tiger Cheerleaders set out on a weekend’s journey to gain experience, bond with their team, and above all perform well at this year’s spirit competition. Taos Tiger Cheerleading teams set the pace at this week ends Spirit Fest Competition for a successful, hard-working, spirited new school year. Taos High School was well represented by both their Varsity Cheerleading and Junior Varsity Cheerleading teams as they placed second amongst several 4A and 5A cheerleading teams from Colorado. The Varsity team (pictured below) competed against nine other 4A/5A teams, while the Junior Varsity (pictured below) competed against five other JV teams. Saturday’s solid performance landed both teams amongst the top two teams within the 4A/5A All-Girl Competition. According to Coach DeHerrera, “the competition was tough but the girls worked hard over the past several weeks to perfect their routines. The fans that traveled to the competition cheered the girls on as they tumbled, stunted, and danced their way to the top. The competition as a whole was one where the experience, team bonding and competing well was of top priority, which in the end was a clear achievement.” According to the coaching staff, “Dedication, commitment and hard work was what has kept these teams strong throughout the summer. We are looking forward to building our cheerleading programs from the bottom up, starting with our extreme teams all the way up to our Varsity program. As the community continues to support our programs our team continues to strive to be the best cheer team around.”
