About Bruce Gomez

In the first year that cross-country was added as a sport to Taos High in 1973, Bruce Gomez became the first qualifier to the NM State Meet. A graduate of CU/ Boulder, he returned to his alma mater with 2020 marking his 36 th year at Taos. During this time, his teams have won 13 State trophies (top three) including 7 Championships, 13 District titles and 29 top-5-or-better team finishes in 35 consecutive appearances to the State Meet. A two time NM High School Coach of the Year, he was a top 8 finalist for NHSACA National Coach of the Year in 2017, and has been inducted into the NM High School Track /Cross-Country Coaches Association Hall of Fame. A native of Taos Pueblo/Diné tribes, Coach Gomez still enjoys the sport and is moving forward with another season of working with Taos kids.
