Taos Middle School Principal

Principal Linda Quintana-Martinez was born and raised in Taos and is a graduate of Taos High School. Mrs. Martinez received her Bachelor of Arts from New Mexico Highland University in Elementary Education with a minor in History. Later, obtaining her Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University.

 Mrs. Martinez began her educational career and Taos Middle School as a substitute teacher then later transitioning to a 6th grade history teacher where she remained for 17 years teaching other subjects such as journalism, art, language arts and keyboarding.

Mrs. Martinez enjoys joking, bonding, and building relationships with her students. She prides herself in advocating for them and helping them through tough situations. She is dedicated to Taos Middle School, her students, staff and families.

Assistant Principal

Born and raised in Taos, Mr. Hernando Chavez is a 2002 Taos High School graduate. Mr. Chavez received his Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from New Mexico Highlands University and Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University. 

Mr. Chavez has been employed by the Taos Municipal School district for 15 years in several capacities including as a special education teacher, history teacher, physical education teacher, Taos Middle School Athletic Coordinator, and Taos High School Athletic Director.

In addition to his role as educator in the district, Mr. Chavez has also served as an athletics coach for 17 years and is the current Taos High School Head Boys Basketball Coach. During his free time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends and watching sports. Mr. Chavez is excited to be back at Taos Middle School and further developing relationships with students and staff.

Dean of Instruction

Ms. Archuleta is a dedicated and passionate educator with a deep love for her profession, students, and community. Raised in Taos, New Mexico,  she attended Taos Municipal Schools before venturing west to pursue learning and sport at Pitzer College in Claremont, California. Monica continued her studies, earning a master's degree in Teacher Education from Claremont Graduate University and currently works as the Dean of Instruction at Taos Middle School. In her free time, Monica enjoys being outdoors, reading, live music, watching sport, dancing and learning. Monica loves Taos. She believes in the best of people and works tirelessly to support the students, staff, families, and community she serves.

Principal History of Taos Middle School

Taos Middle School was once called Taos Jr. High School (TJHS). Its name changed in 1998 to its current name. The school was built around 1975. Early Principals included JP Lujan, appointed in 1981, Reynaldo Quintina who led 20 years and Alfred Cordova who led 14 years.
