At 8:29 AM, a BB gun fell from a student’s backpack at Enos Garcia Elementary. It was safely confiscated by staff, and the student was detained by administration. Local law enforcement responded promptly. The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority.

Enos Garcia Elementary was briefly placed under lock down due to an unidentified adult at the campus. The adult was quickly identified as an employee of the district and lock down was lifted. As always, the safety of the students and staff is our priority. Thank you.

Dear Taos Municipal Schools Families, In monitoring weather conditions through local, county, and state officials, we are pleased to inform you that school will resume in-person tomorrow, Friday, November 8th. All classes and activities will follow their regular schedule.
We look forward to welcoming students back for a productive day of learning!
Due to inclement weather conditions and for the safety of our students and staff, Taos Municipal Schools will switch to a Virtual Learning Day on Thursday, November 7, 2024. All students and staff will follow designated virtual learning schedules which can by found using the following link https://taosmunicipalschoolsnm.sites.thrillshare.com/page/students-parents.
Presently, classes will resume a regular day for Friday, November 8, 2024. TMSD will continue monitoring weather conditions through Friday. Any updates/changes will be communicated via district messaging, social media, website, and local news.

Water issues at Arroyos Del Norte Elementary School have been resolved.
Classes resume regular schedule tomorrow.

At approx. 12:03 PM today, a report was made regarding the sound of gunfire in the area surrounding Taos High School. Taos Sheriff’s Department was immediately dispatched and investigating the report. Following safety protocols, THS was under lockdown then shelter in place which has been lifted. More updates coming.
